An engineering student, riding pillion on a two-wheeler, was run over by a truck at Bandlaguda here on Sunday. The scooter rider escaped with minor injuries, L.B. Nagar police said.
The victim was identified as S. Navyasri (20), a final year engineering student from New Nagole, who was riding pillion with E. Sathna (20) of Kothapet. The accident took place around 12 p.m., when the duo was returning to their place of stay on a scooter from their college. They are students of Shreyas Institute of Engineering and Technology at Bandlaguda.
Navyasri was crushed to death by the truck, which tried to overtake the scooter that Sathna lost control of, L.B. Nagar inspector V. Ashok Reddy said.
