Frustrated by the lack of action on the part of the State government and delays in installing the hero stone bearing the names of martrys at the National Military Memorial, members of #FaujiKids organised a symbolic prayer meeting at the memorial on Republic Day.

“We felt that a simple, sincere, multi-denominational prayer meeting was the only way forward, given that the State of Karnataka has not given us a deadline for bringing the stone to the memorial,” Priya Chetty Rajagopal, a member of the group, said.

The group, comprising mostly children of armed forces personnel, has been demanding that the 80 ft long veeragallu, that weighs close to 500 tonnes and bears the names of 22,600 martyrs, be brought to its rightful place. “We have run online petitions, written to every authority and met everyone from Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, but to no avail,” she said.
