Carlton's Fasolo and Port's Wines injured in off-field incidents
Carlton and Port Adelaide have both been hit hard by off-field injury setbacks over the weekend.
Blue recruit Alex Fasolo underwent surgery on Sunday after breaking his arm in a suspected fall on Saturday night, with Carlton set to provide more information on Monday.
Meanwhile Power star Ollie Wines suffered a shoulder injury while water skiing, and is set to be scanned later in the week.
The Blues released a statement late on Sunday night confirming the injury.
"Carlton Football Club is aware of an incident that occurred on Saturday night involving forward Alex Fasolo in which he sustained a fractured radius to his left arm," the Blues said.
"Fasolo immediately notified the club at the time of his injury and was taken to the Alfred hospital.
"He then underwent surgery at the Epworth hospital on Sunday evening and his recovery is expected to be between 6–8 weeks.
"The club is investigating the circumstances of the incident and will be in a position to provide further comment once more details have been ascertained."
Fasolo joined the Blues as a free agent in October after eight years at Collingwood. The forward joins Sam Docherty, Jarrod Pickett, Matthew Kreuzer, Liam Jones and Mitch McGovern on an ever-lengthening injury list at Ikon Park.
Wines, tipped to take over from Travis Boak as Power captain, sustained his injury on Saturday afternoon in the South Australian Murray River town of Mannum.
"Port Adelaide midfielder Ollie Wines suffered a shoulder injury while water skiing near Mannum on Saturday afternoon," the Power said in a media release on Sunday night.
"Wines will have his shoulder scanned later this week to determine the extent of injury.
"The club will make no further comment until it has received the results of the scans."
