NAGPUR: A delegation of students from JM Patel College in Bhandara met Nagpur University vice-chancellor SP Kane on Friday with a request to allow them to appear in the forthcoming summer-2019 examinations.
All of them belonged to MCom and MA courses and would be appearing in the fourth semester examinations conducted by NU. However, NU rejected their forms citing discrepancies.
Their delegation was led by former management council member Mahendra Nimbarte and senior senate member Mohan Bajpayee, who requested the VC to save the academic year of the students, who were not at fault. Pro-VC Pramod Yeole, Board of Examination and evaluation (BOEE) director Neeraj Khaty and other Examination Section officials were present.
Kane assured the delegation that their exam forms would be accepted. He also told them a notification in this regard would be issued soon and they wouldn’t be charged any late examination fees. According to students, even after failing in first semester, they were allowed to appear in next semester, as per ATKT rules. If they didn't clear first and second semesters, they could not appear in third semester exams. Though the students cleared their third semester, they were barred from appearing in fourth one, due to back subjects of previous semesters.
