A project to provide underground drainage connection to about 15,000 houses in Pendurti area through 226 km of network and supply 46 MLD of treated water to industry is going on at a cost of ₹412 crore, Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan has said.
In his address after unfurling the tricolour on the Republic Day, he said work under the Package I of Sewerage Network and Treated Water Project was being executed by Tata Projects.
Under Package II, 45,000 UGD connections will be given in Gajuwaka and Malkapuram areas creating 460 km of network to supply 33 MLD treated water to industry.
A total of 51 Smart City projects were proposed to be executed at a cost of ₹1,610.92 crore in 2017-18 with 25 of them being pan-city and 26 in the Area Based Development.
While 22 of them were completed at a cost of ₹262.33 crore, 10 at the value of ₹314.55 crore were under way, he said.
Under convergence, seven projects costing ₹751.8 crore are being implemented and two worth ₹20.5 crore completed. The 24x7 water supply project is in progress.
The total value of Smart City projects is ₹1,610 crore and a five-year action plan is worked out to implement them.
Mr. Hari Narayanan said under A.P. Disaster Recovery Project beachfront development would be taken up with an outlay of ₹240 crore and another to prevent erosion of beach with ₹150 crore.
On the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Commissioner said work on the waste-to-energy project began.
