ALLAHABAD: The special court (MP and MLA) on Friday partially allowed a criminal appeal filed by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal in a case registered against him for violating the model code of conduct during Lok Sabha election of 2014.
While partially allowing the appeal, the court set aside the one-month imprisonment granted to Pal by chief judicial magistrate of Siddharthnagar on December 22, 2017, but enhanced the fine imposed on him from Rs 100 to Rs 200.
Pal, who was present in the court, deposited the fine of Rs 200 and was released from the court. CJM Siddharthnagar on December 22, 2017, found him guilty of violation of code of conduct and awarded him one-month imprisonment and Rs 100 fine.
