When Amie was 11 weeks into her pregnancy the couple were told Bella's twin Willow had anencephaly, a condition whereby she would be born without parts of her brain and skull.

After the girls were born, the family-of-four spent the time they had together soaking up every second.

But after five hours, Willow tragically passed away.

Amie said her greatest revelation over the past nine months was how quickly time had gone since she became a mother.

'What I've noticed myself doing a lot more over the past couple of months is learning to slow down and embrace the small things,' she wrote.

'I've been making a habit to stop and soak up every little moment with Bella, to experience every one of her little 'firsts' together.

'Because before you know it, they're onto the next milestone and what was previously a first is no longer a first anymore.'

Shortly after the girls' birth last year, Amie penned another emotional post declaring her love both newborns.

'Bella Rae & Willow Nevaeh, you have changed our lives forever baby girls,' she wrote online, alongside a montage of family photographs in her hospital bed.

'Oh how much love I have for you both, you two have truly shown mum and dad the meaning of love.'

'What we have once enjoyed deeply, we can never lose. All that we love deeply, becomes a part of us,' she added, quoting famous author Hellen Keller.
