Some 5000 years back, Ayurveda proved that Sinusitis is caused by an imbalance in Prana Vata, governing the lubrication and moisture. This causes an inflammation in the tissues surrounding the sinuses. Sinusitis is triggered by a variety of causes and its intensity increases when one suffers from typical cold or spore allergies. Sinusitis can be a temporary problem that is caused by cold (whereby it lasts for up to 4 weeks) or it can be a chronic issue. However, there are some great Ayurveda treatment methodologies that can help you overcome Sinusitis. And today we would list some of them.
#1: Inhaling Steam
Taking steam, is a clinically approved method, of clearing the congestion and thus reducing the pain. This process could be followed 5-6 times every day.
#2: Nasyam

#3: Jala Neti
Neti is an ancient purification technique. Sinusitis problem arises when the Sinus cavities get clotted with impurities. The ancient Ayurvedic treatment method of Neti should be performed daily and just after you have undergone oral cleansing. Fill a pot with lukewarm water and add a pinch of salt. Position the pot over your left nostril. Breathe through the mouth and tilt your head so that the water starts flowing directly through your right nostril. Repeat this process right to left and left to right. Jal Neti maintains nasal hygiene by removing the bacteria trapped with the mucus inside the nostrils.
#4: Diet changes
You can get over sinusitis with some simple dietary changes. You need to shun having oily food. Start a day with a lemon juice and plain water. It will help combat the inflammation in the nasal muscles. Ayurveda also suggests the sinusitis patients to stay away from processed food, alcohol, chocolates, aerated drinks, smoking, etc.
#5: Ginger and Garlic
Ginger and garlic are highly praised in Ayurvedic texts. Early in the morning, extract some fresh ginger juice, add a bit of honey and drink it. This will solve the congestion issue. The juice can also be ingested in the evening for quicker response. Apart from ginger juice also try to have some crushed garlic with turmeric and honey.
