5-year-old, uncle killed as tractor hits bike in Delhi's Shastri Park

A five-year-old child and his uncle were killed after a tractor hit the bike they were travelling on in the Shastri Park area. The deceased have been identified as Sarfaraj (20) and his nephew Anas, both residents of Sadar Bazar.

Sarfaraj's cousin Shehzad who was riding the bike has been injured in the accident. Police have arrested the accused driver of the tractor.

The accident occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when all the three victims were returning home on their bike.

According to Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North-East district, the police received a PCR call regarding the accident at around 12.30 am on Friday.

"By the time the police reached the spot, a passerby had already shifted them to a nearby hospital. In the hospital, the child and Sarfaraj were declared brought dead while Sehzad is still undergoing treatment," said Thakur"Initial probe suggests that all the three victims were riding on Bullet motorcycle when the tractor coming from behind lost control and hit them. The child came under the rear wheel of the trolley which was carrying fodder," said Thakur.

"The driver of the tractor identified as Sandeep has been arrested. He was going towards Ghazipur from ISBT when the accident occurred. A case under appropriate sections has been registered. Further investigation is going on," Thakur added.
