GURUGRAM: Giving patrolling a boost, 25 more police control room (PCR) vans were added to the Gurugram police’s fleet on Friday. While flagging off the new vehicles — all Ertigas — from the police commissioner’s office, state cabinet minister Rao Narbir Singh said the induction of this new fleet would help policemen ensure better law and order across the city.
In December 2018, the MCG had added 25 such PCR vans and 40 bikes to the police fleet.
Calling it a major resource addition, police commissioner K K Rao said this will also help them reduce response time to crimes. “These vehicles will be used to replace around 90 older vehicles. The older vehicles would give us major trouble while chasing criminals. These 50 new vehicles will surely be an added resource to deal with organised crimes and criminals. It will also help us to reach those in need in time,” K K Rao said.
According to police sources, all vehicles have red and blue flashing beacons, are equipped with global positioning system (GPS), wireless system, public address system and four policemen will be deployed in each PCR van.
“We want to be known as the best police force in the region which is always available to people. No criminal should be able to escape from us. These vehicles are critical to achieve same,” said Kulwinder Singh, joint commissioner of police.
