2019 Bentley Continental GT: Is This The Most Dynamic Luxury GT On Sale?

Few cars have managed to improve in almost every aspect in such impressive way as latest iteration of the Bentley Continental GT.

The luxury grand tourer was already considered one of the finest long-distance machines available, but the new Continental GT took every single flaw of its predecessor and simply erased it.

Everything but the colossal weight figure, that is, but you don’t buy a leather-wrapped continent crusher to set new lap time records, do you?

Despite the 4,960lbs (2,250kg) weight figure, Bentley’s new Conti GT is faster than ever thanks to its impressive powertrain, a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 with 626hp and 664lb-ft of torque, sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The result? A 0-60mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 207mph (333km/h).

The new chassis, which features a longer wheelbase and a wider body, also helps the new Continental GT to escape from the one-dimensional character of the previous generation. The rear-wheel biased all-wheel drive together with the new 48-volt active anti-roll bars and air suspension make the new Conti GT a more rewarding car to drive in the twisties.

Carfection’s Henry Catchpole took the new Bentley Continental GT to some painfully beautiful roads in Scotland in order to examine if the British GT deserves the praise it’s getting since its official reveal. Let’s see what he found out.
