The decision of the State government to transfer four IPS officers without bringing it to the notice of the Home Department has reportedly irked Home Minister M.B. Patil, who assumed office last month.
Sources said Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy transferred four IPS officers without consulting Mr. Patil. The Congress Minister and party legislators have been alleging interference of the JD(S) in transfers and postings of officials and this issue has also figured in the Congress Legislature Party meetings in the past.
IPS officers B.S. Lokesh Kumar, K.T. Balakrishna, P. Rajendra Prasad, and R. Ramesh were transferred on Thursday.
Though it is the Chief Minister’s prerogative to transfer IPS officers, sources said transferring officials without the consent of the department concerned was not a good precedent.
