A 65-year-old U.K. national, who had been suffering from chronic pain for years due to progressive and severe cervical kyphosis, has left for home a happy man, after his condition was corrected through a complex spine surgery at KIMS hospital, a statement issued by the hospital said.

Jeffrey Ronald Betts was wheelchair-bound and he could not even look straight because of intense pain in the neck. Though the severity of the deformity and potential paralysis were major challenges, a team of doctors led by Spine Specialist Renjith Unnikrishnan, performed a two-stage complex surgery, involving spine correction and removal of the compression of spinal cord, utilising metal implants

Mr Betts was able to sit, look straight and walk with support within a few days of the surgery.
