The three-day annual Bible conventions (Mahasabhalu) is set to begin on the grounds over looking at the National Highway No- 5 at Kaza village in front of Acharya Nagarjuna University on January 27.

Over 7 lakh people are expected to throng the vast farm lands converted into a huge canvas of blue and white.

The pandal, a vast canopy of cloth, envelops the stretch of land extending to 50 acres, 100 tonnes of rice to feed the multitude of people, 20 tonnes of yellow dal and 12 bore wells have been sunk to provide water are some of logistical arrangements for the meeting.

Vice-President of Bible Mission and convener of the annual convention J. Samuel Kiran said that the Bible Mission founded by St. M. Devadas in the year 1938, has been organising the convention every year since then as a sacred tradition.

Special trains

The South Central Railway and Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation have made arrangements for the extension of trains from Vijayawada. Two special trains have already commenced their operation on Thursday. The Roads and Buildings Department, revenue and the police departments have also been working in tandem for the meetings

For three days, experienced pastors would deliver The Word of God. N. Satyanandam, Chairman of the convention, J. Samuel Kiran, convener and P. Shanta Raj, secretary would deliver the messages.

“Bible Mission is a Revelation of God and the conventions here have a historical precedent, of Feast of Tabernacles, as recorded in the Old Testament. Most of the people coming here are from agricultural background and they gather here with their first fruits of harvest,” Rev. J. Samuel Kiran told The Hindu on Thursday.

Each day of the meeting would start with early morning devotion, followed by lunch. A day-long devotional session would end around 3.30 p.m. and after the break for food, people gather for the evening devotion.
