KOLKATA: It will take 7-10 days for the company to send back sailor Raja Panigrahi’s body to his home in Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas. Panigrahi is among the six Indian sailors killed in a huge explosion on two ships in the Black Sea, off Crimea, on Monday. Panigrahi
(25), a deck cadet on one of the ships, was to complete a year at sea on Sunday and return home. Hours before the accident, Panigrahi called up home and said that he had purchased a lot of goodies for the family and would return soon.
“We got in touch with the company in Mumbai through which Raja joined the ship in Istanbul. Officials are providing all assistance. They have shared all details with us and assured us that they will try to send back his body as soon as possible,” a relative said. Panigrahi was on board the Tanzanianflag LPG tanker Candy.
