KANPUR: An alleged molester, who was out on bail, killed the molestation victim's minor brother to "teach her a lesson". On Saturday morning, police received a call from villagers about the recovery of a 10-year-old boy's body lying in the fields in Sajeti police area of UP's Kanpur district.
Within few hours of being informed, Sajeti police cracked the case and arrested the 23-year-old youth and his childhood friend.
The police said that Sarvesh Nishad had been charged with molestation last year and, on being released on bail, had sought out the girl's minor brother for revenge killing. According to the investigators, the youth and his friend abducted the boy on Friday, and after gagging his mouth strangled him to death and dumped his body in the fields in the outskirts of the village.
Nishad and his friend Anil have been arrested.
Circle officer Shailendra Singh said that the duo had confessed to their crime, and they had been sent to jail.
"We registered an FIR for murder and formed teams under the supervision of SHO Sajeti to pursue the case," the CO added.
When the cops questioned the boy's family members, they discovered that the boy's elder sister had filed a case of molestation against a village youth named Sarvesh who, during the course of investigation, was arrested and sent to jail.
The latter's family members had since then been threatening the girl and her family members to withdraw the case they had filed against him.
The police detained Sarvesh for questioning, but initially he tried to mislead the cops. There were discrepancies in the details he gave them about his location and movements at the time of the boy's abduction. The false leads were later contradicted by the analysis of his mobile phone location.
During the sustained grilling, Sarvesh finally broke down and confessed to the boy's abduction followed by his killing. The youth told the cops that his family members were regularly pressuring and trying to influence the girl in the matter, but she was not ready to retract her accusations.
Sarvesh, who had recently come out of jail on bail, hatched a plan to teach the girl a lesson. He sought the help of his childhood friend. On Friday, they gave a minor boy Rs 50 and asked him to lure girl's ten-year-old brother. As soon as the girl's brother came out of his house, the duo abducted him and took him to village outskirts, where after gagging him, they killed him.
