If you are an Airtel Digital TV or Airtel Internet TV subscriber, you have the option of selecting only the channels you want, which is called a la carte. This is because of a directive from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that allows customers to select the channels or channel bouquets they want instead of going for the option offered by the DTH operator.
Step 1
As an Airtel Digital TV or Airtel Internet TV subscriber, you have to log in to the Airtel portal : https://www.airtel.in/s/selfcare?normalLogin
Step 2
Go to this page that offers you the selection options: https://www.airtel.in/s/selfcare/DTH/SubscriberNumber/001/change-base-pack
Here replace SubscriberNumber with your Airtel subscriber ID.
It will take you to the page.
Step 3
Airtel will now offer one or two plans which it thinks is best for you based on your previous plan and list the benefit of opting for the plan. For instance, it may say: Rs. 699 Plan : Save Rs. 306 over Ala-Carte (Your best value plan) ; 160 Channels
Step 4
If you do not want the plan, you will be presented with two more options. One is broadcaster bouquets and a la carte.
Step 4A
Broadcaster bouquets: You can opt for bouquets offered by broadcasters which will include only the channels of the broadcaster. You will have to select multiple broadcaster bouquets to complete your package. The amount you will have to pay will be shown once you select the bouquets.
Step 4B
A la carte: Here you will be able to select individual channels you want. Airtel by default selects around 25 free Doordarshan channels. So, the number of channels will start from 25. Once you select the channels, the amount you will have to pay will be shown. If you are okay with it, click on Confirm. That’s it.
Step 5
The next acknowledgement page will show the amount and a reference ID. Store it for future reference. Your new pack will start from the date mentioned in the acknowledgement page.
New broadcast tariff: TV channel rates may fall further, says TRAI
