THANE: The ATS says that the eight adults arrested and one minor detained for ISIS links reportedly got from handlers funds routed through Mohsin Khan (32), believed to be the busted group's ring leader.
Sources said Mohsin, who lives in Aurangabad and is one of three siblings, came in online contact with ISIS's Syria-based propaganda cell in mid-2018. He became the chief recruiter to rope in boys from mosques and radicalize them.
Of those arrested, Salman S Khan (28) of Kausa, lent a helping hand to Mohsin by distorting Islam's message to convert "educated youth" to their cause, said an ATS source. Another arrested acused, Mazhar Shaikh (21) of Almas Colony, Mumbra, is the son of Dawood Ibrahim's sharp shooter Rashid Malbari.
"We are investigating the money trail," said a source. "We have also found a couple of voice notes used for indoctrination from the possession of the accused. We are probing the source for these."
