Bangalore University to open doors for 500 Phd scholars

BENGALURU: Bangalore University to open doors for nearly 500 Phd scholars soon as per its new notification approved by syndicate on Thursday. This is after two years that Bangalore university will be taking new registrations for Phd scholars told a syndicate member after meeting. According to the University officials, they will be declaring the research positions in different departments soon.
According to the new notification, these researchers will not only be involved in research works but they will also augment the teaching faculty and will be allowed to take few classes in university departments.
To get into BU as a PHD scholar, aspiring candidates will have to clear the examination after which they will be admitted. SC and ST Scholars will get the scholarship and other researchers will be paid as per norms of Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Currently there are about 182 scholars at Bangalore University in Arts department, which were mainly registered between 2010-2015, about 283 in arts optional, 642 in science department, 215 in commerce, education law and engineering, but only few of them have been able to complete their researches by the end of 2018.
To bring down the burden from professors guiding more number of PHDs, now assistant professors can guide 4 PHDs, associate professors 6 and professors 8. Earlier there was a clause of 3 years experience for assistant professors but now that clause has been removed.
