Standing committee begins deliberations on budget proposals
TNN | Jan 26, 2019, 04:03 ISTVadodara: The standing committee of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) began deliberations on the budget for the year 2019-20 proposed by the VMC commissioner. The committee took up for discussion various charges that have been proposed by the administration.
While the VMC budget had shied away from making any significant hike in taxes, it has increased the charges it takes for various services and facilities. The proposed budget has also included some new charges and penalties in the budget.
Sources said that with no changes in taxes except property tax for rented houses that has been reduced, little discussion was expected on the taxation front. The only major aspects of the budget to be discussed seem to be the charges and development works.
According to insiders, the budget may be cleared very soon by the standing committee. The city unit BJP of the will also be kept in the loop before clearing it. Minor changes can be expected in the charges proposed in the budget as well as some new development works that are not capital intensive may be added.tnn
