Maharashtra: Man held with banned currency of Rs 20 lakh in Ulhasnagar

ULHASNAGAR: The Vithalwadi police in Ulhasnagar have seized around Rs 20 lakh demonetised currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 in Ulhasnagar and arrested a man who is said to be involved in the transport business.
The arrested accused identified as Laxman Manuja is a resident of C block area in Ulhasnagar and involved in the transport business.
On Thursday night police sub inspector Shelke and constable through their informer received specific information about a man carrying demonetised currency notes near Surya lodge. Based on the information police laid a trap and nabbed suspect Manuja who came into his swift car (MH05- H1179).
The police checked his car and found a bag carrying demonetised currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 totalling Rs 20 lakh.
A police official said that the accused has not yet disclosed how he was going to utilise the scrapped notes adding that he was put under arrest and further probe was on.
