Rishikesh facility in the line of fire

Doctors have demanded the immediate roll-back of a set of instruction issued for the undergraduate medical students at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh where they are told what to wear, where to sit in class and what to take to class.

The 6-point instructions states – students are to sit in lecture hall according to labelled roll number, wear appropriate scrub suits with clean apron for lecture, practical and exams, they are not to enter classroom with bags and note books and writing material is to be carried to classroom.

Students will not be allowed to remain in hostel rooms and library reading rooms during class hours and those not adhering to the rules will be marked absent for that day.

Harjit Singh Bhatti, member of the Delhi AIIMS, Resident Doctors’ Association said: ``We don’t know why AIIMS Rishikesh wants to operate a medical college as prison... we request the director to let students enjoy their education rather than making their life difficult.”
