HYDERABAD: Congress leaders defeated in the Telangana assembly election filed pleas in the Telangana high court challenging election of their opponents. They sought directions from the court to set at naught the victories of the TRS MLAs in these constituencies.
Former minister D K Aruna, A Revanth Reddy, Adluri Lakshman Kumar, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Dasoju Sravan Kumar, Feroz Khan, Ponnam Prabhakar, Kasani Gnaneswar, Addanki Dayakar, A Chandra Sekhar, B Pavan Kumar and K Srinivas Goud filed pleas pointing out several electoral malpractices allegedly resorted to by their opponents. Some of them raised doubts about the functioning of EVMs and some about the discrepancies in the figures of VVPATs. Some leaders pointed out the alleged difference between votes polled and tvotes counted.
BSP candidate Malreddy Ranga Reddy’s plea, it may be recalled, has already resulted in a notice to the election commission of India.
The court asked ECI to explain its stand in respect of VVPAT counting.
