State BJP president and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said here on Thursday that the victims of Sulwadi temple poisoning would receive ₹2 lakh as compensation from the Centre.

He was speaking to mediapersons here before leaving for a drought assessment tour in parts of Chamarajanagar district. Mr. Yeddyurappa said that he had sought funds from the Centre to rehabilitate the victims of the Sulwadi temple prasad poisoning case in which 17 people died and scores were hospitalised.

He said the State was reeling under severe drought and hence he had embarked on a tour to get first-hand information of the intensity and extent. Mr. Yeddyurappa visited Badanakuppe in Chamarajanagar and is scheduled to tour Kolar on Friday.
