Priyanka Gandhi's entry into active politics has invited a slew of criticism with the latest coming from UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who thinks it would not add anything to Congress's prospects in 2019.
Yogi Adityanath said on Friday, "This will not lead to anything. Zero plus zero gets you zero. Congress is a big zero, no matter who joins it, nothing will come out of it."
This comes on a day when Priyanka Gandhi was met with a range of misogynistic comments on her taking charge of Congress's campaign in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Priyanka's appointment as in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh (East) has raised speculations that her role may not be restricted to only reviving the party. There are speculations that she might also make her electoral debut in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from either Varanasi or Gorakhpur.
Before Yogi, Bihar minister Vinod Narayan Jha said that votes cannot be won on the basis of beautiful faces. Jha also pointed out that she is the wife of Robert Vadra, who is accused of involvement in a land scam case and several corruption cases.
Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi chose to describe Priyanka Gandhi as "a woman with a tainted life partner".
