Swine flu comes back, claims six lives in 22 days

These include four persons from city and two persons from Amravati. This is the highest number in entire state in any district or circle.
Total 23 positive cases are recorded in city while 12 people, tested positive, are taking treatment in city from outside. Seventeen patients are under treatment in different hospitals.
Dr Sunil Ghurde, medical officer Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) told TOI that three persons, two male aged 30 years and 57 years and one woman aged 27 died in different hospitals in city while the other three include one 60-year-old man from Tittur, Kamptee and two women from Amravati district.
Total 262 positive cases have been reported across the state. Of these, nine persons have died so far in the state. Pune tops in number of positive cases with 151 patients. These include 117 from Pune city. Two deaths each have been reported from Pune and Kolhapur circles and one each from Sindhudurg and Ahmednagar.
The number of positive cases from other circle include 43 patients from Mumbai, Thane 3, Nashik 6, Aurangabad 2, Latur 10 and Akola 2.
In 2017, Nagpur circle had reported 314 positive cases of swine flu and 43 deaths. In 2018, the circle reported 81 positive cases with 11 deaths.
Director of public health services Anup Kumar Yadav told TOI that the department has initiated the standard protocol treatment for all places in state. “All private and government hospitals have been alerted. The arrangement of Tamiflu tablets and ventilators are also being put in place. The department would also be arranging meetings with private doctors and the Indian Medical Association for better management of the disease,” he said.
