Indore: In the case of seizure of 10 kg lethal chemical fentanyl in the city last year, a Mexican advocate has approached special NDPS court and sought permission to have meeting with a Mexican accused in the case. DRI has objected the move stating this is an internationally sensitive case. The court will pronounce decision on Friday.
The seizure of fentanyl from a laboratory located in Pologround industrial area and arrest of three people including one Mexican national George Solice on September 27 last year by Indore zonal office of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had made headlines in national media. Since then, after completing the DRI remand, Solice is in judicial remand in Central Jail, Indore.
Ajinkya Dagaonkar, counsel of Solice presented an application before Special NDPS Court of district Krishnamurthi Mishra on Thursday, seeking permission to meet Mexican counsel Rafael Zalce Gonzlez with Solice on Friday in Central Jail. Presenting the documents of Maxican Embassy in New Delhi and his passport and Indian visa, advocate Dagaonkar verified antecedents of Rafael.
However, Chandan Airen, special public prosecutor of DRI objected. He told court that this is a sensitive case, also associated with security of nation. Therefore, allowing any foreign national to meet a foreigner accused is not justified. Since the identity of Rafael is suspected in such a case, both can share some of classified information in their language. Thus, Rafael should not be allowed to meet Solice. However, at the end of the arguments, the court kept the order reserved for Friday.
