NEW DELHI: Interim finance minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that Union minister Arun Jaitley, who is in the United States for medical treatment, was in good health and recovering rapidly.

Jaitley, who ran the finance ministry, would not be presenting the interim budget on February 1, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters this week.

Jaitley has undergone surgery at a hospital in New York on Tuesday and has been advised at least two weeks rest by the doctors, sources said. The minister, who had travelled to the US on January 13, has undergone tests for soft tissue cancer this week.

Goyal has been given an additional charge of the finance ministry on Wednesday in the absence of Jaitley.
