LUCKNOW: The station house officer (SHO) of Gomtinagar was shunted on Thursday for failing to curb the rising number of theft cases in his area. Gomtinagar police station has a dubious distinction of having the highest number of unsolved cases in the city along with maximum cases of conning.

SHO Gomtinagar Triloki Nath Singh has swapped post with SHO Sarojininagar Ram Surat Sonkar.

Sonkar has also served in UP Special Tsk Force, SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani said. On the day Singh was transferred, burglars made off with Rs 1.5 lakh from an apartment in Gomtinagar on Thursday. This month alone, 20 thefts have already been reported from Gomtinagar, said the police spokesperson.

Gomtinagar police had also drawn flak when a man was critically injured during antiencroachment drive.
