Fake time bomb sends cops into tizzy

Rajkot: A crude bomb strung together with sutali (jute string) bombs, a type of fire cracker with loud noise, a clock attached to it, sent the Jamnagar cops into a tizzy on Friday morning.
The cops received a call from a resident of Krushnanagar locality, after a rag picker found the bomb in a dustbin near Bardai Brahman Gyati ni Vadi and informed him.
“When we reached the spot and found the bomb, it turned out to be a fake one made out of sutali bombs strung together and a clock attached to it. It was a harmless thing put together by some prankster with the intention of spreading panic,” said Sharad Singhal, Jamnagar superintendent of police.
The officials of Jamnagar B division police station along with bomb squad, dog squad, Jamnagar special operation group and SP Singhal himself reached the spot for investigation.
“We cordoned off the area, after which the bomb squad and dog squad checked the bomb. However, we heaved a sigh of relief when the bomb was found to be fake and harmless,” added Singhal.
