LUCKNOW: Come Republic Day, a group of cyclists will embark on a ride in the city, rejoicing in the spirit of nationalism and telling people about Indian Constitution in an easy way by recounting tales from a book ‘Samvidhan Katha’ which presents difficult concepts in folk tale form making them easy to understand.
In a unique effort to spread awareness about the Constitution, the group Cyclopedia will tour through the city, starting from Indiranagar and covering Gomtinagar, Old City and Lucknow University before culminating the ride at Samvidhan Park, Aliganj.
Explaining the idea behind the cycling trip, Pradeep Kumar Singh (63), who had contested 2017 assembly elections from Lucknow east, said, “If you meet a person today and ask him what is Constitution, there are high chances you will find ignorance.”
“People do not know the power of Constitution, what it promises us and what greatness it holds for the nation. So we planned a cycle ride on Republic Day to inform people about the Constitution in story form with easier words.”
The 10 chapters of ‘Samvidhan Katha’ help understand the Constitution easily.
The book by Singh, who retired as additional commissioner of UP Co-operative Board, and his colleague Girish Pandey has stories on fundamental rights and duties, directive principles, leadership, justice and other facets of Constitution. There will also be flag hoisting at Samvidhan park and a discussion on the theme at the venue.
