Mood of the Nation poll: 55% believe Rahul Gandhi can revive Congress's fortunes in 2019

According to a Mood of the Nation India Today-Karvy poll, 55 per cent of respondents believe Rahul Gandhi as the new president of the Congress party can revive its fortunes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In an MOTN poll conducted in August 2018, 47 per cent of respondents felt the same.

It seems that nothing succeeds like electoral success in swaying the public mood. Rahul made Modi and BJP president Amit Shah sweat it out in home state Gujarat and wrested power in the Hindi heartland states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

With less than a 100 days to go for the general election, the field's suddenly been thrown wide open, inconceivable till even last year.

Now with sister Priyanka Gandhi taking charge of Uttar Pradesh-the state that decided who wins Delhi-the Congress is all charged up to challenge Modi-even though it means fighting alone in several states against the formidable electoral machinery of BJP.

In another MOTN poll conducted this January, 53 per cent respondents felt the proposed "Grand Alliance" will accept Rahul Gandhi as their PM candidate for 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In an MOTN poll conducted back in August 2018, 46 per cent of respondents were of the same opinion.

While Rahul Gandhi is willing to lead the charge at a national level against PM Modi, his aim is just to remove Modi and not place himself at the PM's chair.

Rahul Gandhi is willing to walk the extra mile whenever it's needed. He extended his support to the Opposition leaders at the rally organized by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.
