As of now no surgery required, say doctors

Doctors at Narayana Nethralaya have found that the floor of the orbit in Anand Singh’s right eye has been fractured, though his eyesight is not harmed.

The family of the Congress MLA from Vijayanagar, who sustained a black eye and blunt injuries following a brawl at a resort on Sunday, sought a second opinion from the hospital on Thursday. K. Bhujang Shetty, Chairman and Managing Director of the hospital, said the floor of the bone surrounding his right eyeball was fractured because of which he had double vision at certain angles.

“There has also been some external bleeding which will take 10-15 days to heal,” he said, adding that it had not caused any harm to his eyesight.

“He has been put on medical line of treatment for one week, after which we will review his condition. If his double vision and bone fractures have not improved, we will have to consider surgery,” he said.

Following the examination, he was sent back to Apollo Hospitals, Seshadripuram, where he was originally admitted.

Hospital Medical Superintendent Umesh N., said Mr. Singh will remain in hospital for a few more days for recuperation.
