Gang that stole batteries busted; three held

Rajkot: A three-member ga-ng of thieves was busted and stolen batteries of mobile towers were recovered from them from Jasdan in Rajkot district on Thursday morning.
The accused were identified as Manji Dabhi (34) and Mukesh Solanki (30), both residents of Chogath village of Umrala taluka in Bhavnagar district, and Sanjay Solanki (25), a resident of Bhandaria village of Jasdan taluka.
“We arrested the accused, following a tip-off about their schedule in Jasdan. The gang members were masters in stealing batteries from mobile towers. During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing 17 house break-ins. We have recovered 68 batteries, worth Rs 1.26 lakh, two SUVs, 1,200kg stolen cotton bales and three cellphones from them,” said Hakumatsinh Jadeja, sub-inspector of Rajkot local crime branch. tnn
