God save the Queen is what they usually say across the pond, ??But for supporters of Britain’s decision to leave the European Union, ??they could be saying The Queen saves Brexit.
??This all comes as Prime Minister Theresa May is struggling to get a deal through ??parliament to ensure that the country does leave the EU on March 29th.
??But May has, according to the Times in London, privately admitted that the move is likely to be delayed.
??One of the ways, according to Business Insider, that the ??Queen can step in is through her power to suspend parliament.
??There’s legislation that’s ready to be voted on that would force the PM to extend the two-year Brexit process.
??And since it looks like it has a good chance at passing, one conservative Brexit supporter is pushing May to ask the Queen to quote, “prorogue” parliament….basically discontinuing the session.
??Another way she can potentially get involved is through a term called “Royal Assent.” ??The Queen must give Royal Assent to all legislation passed by the Houses.
??If her majesty does get involved, Business Insider reports it could quote, “provoke a constitutional crisis the like of which Britain has not seen for hundreds of years.” ??
