Ford’s Mustang-inspired electric crossover should debut later this year as the company has used its Full Year Earnings Review and 2019 Outlook (PDF) to reveal a “new all-electric utility” will be introduced in the near future.

While Ford didn’t go into specifics, the automaker confirmed the electric crossover will be unveiled later this year and then go on sale in 2020. The company didn’t say much else about the model, but the automaker has previously said the crossover will have a range of at least 300 miles (483 km). If the company is able to achieve this, the crossover would be able to beat the Tesla Model X 100D which can travel 295 miles (474 km) before needing to be recharged.

We’ll learn more about the crossover in the coming months, but Ford has already hinted the model will have a charging process that is an “effortless experience at home and on the road.” The company hasn’t proved many details about this, but Ford’s vice president of autonomous and electric vehicles, Sherif Marakby, has previously said “Throwing a charger in the trunk of a vehicle and sending customers on their way isn’t enough to help promote the viability of electric vehicles” so “we are redesigning the ownership experience to ensure it addresses customer pain points that currently hold back broad adoption.”

Besides talking about the electric crossover, Ford provided a few more details about the electric F-150 that was confirmed earlier this month. While initial speculation suggested the electric pickup could arrive relatively soon, as the next-generation F-150 is due in 2020, that might not be the case.

Ford said “early work” has started on the model and this implies the electric truck is still a ways off. There’s no word on when the electric F-150 will arrive, but it usually takes automakers several years to create a new vehicle.
