AGRA: An FIR was lodged in Shahganj police station against a restaurant owner and his son after a fist fight broke out between the food outlet staff and a group of Indian military personnel. During the scuffle, a bullet too was fired in air allegedly by the watchman of the restaurant.

The incident took place in Arjun Nagar area close to Indian Air Force base on Wednesday.

Station house officer of Shahganj Begram Singh said, “A group of military personnel posted in Agra had gone to a local restaurant for food. But due to delay in food serving, the men engaged in a heated argument which later turned into fist fight. Even a shot was fired outside the restaurant.”

He said, “Based on the written complaint of a military man who suffered head injury, an FIR was lodged against the hotel owner and his son under IPC sections 323 (voluntary causing hurt), 352 (Punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave Provocation) and 506 (criminal intimidation). A probe is under way.”

A CCTV footage of the restaurant showed both the parties engaged in fist fight, dragging each other with shirt collar and hair.

Talking to TOI, the complainant said, “I, along with my two colleagues and a couple of civilian friends, had gone for dinner at local restaurant. Since the food service was getting delay and I lost my temper and unintentionally hurl verbal abuse. I regret for my actions, but the restaurant staff assaulted me and my friends.”
