Thiruvananthapuram administration declares complete plastic ban for Attukal pongala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The district administration has called for complete plastic ban during Attukal pongala. The pongala festival will be held on February 20. City corporation has already declared green protocol in 21 wards which will be festival wards.
Devotees shall avoid bringing plastic covers and bottles and instead use earthen cups and palm plates. Temporary stalls won't be allowed to sell food articles in plastic packets. Those who distribute food shall use bubble top containers for water distribution.
The steel plates and glasses required for food distribution will be made available from city corporation. The collector also said that steps will be taken to minimise sound pollution. PCB and police shall do a special drive and pongala pots will be allowed at a fixed distance from petrol pumps and transformers.
