State registrar Ashutosh Apte said that they received directions from the central government to adopt the new system and that accordingly it has been made applicable at taluka offices, and personnel have been trained.
To register a sale deed, a person has to simply upload the document on a link mentioned on the registrar’s website.
The registering authority, the sub-registrar, will get two days to examine the uploaded document, Apte said, adding documents will be scrutinised on first come first basis, which eliminates favouritism in processing documents.
Only once the documents have been examined for land rate will other formalities will be completed, he said. Payment of the registration and processing fees will be accepted online. However, stamp duty will have to be paid at the revenue department as it does not come under the purview of the office of the sub-registrar, Apte said.
Till date, Apte said, they have registered over 300 documents online. On an average, every taluka office receives 20 to 25 documents for registration. The taluka offices are learning to adapt to the new system, he said.
The new system will reduce the crowd at the office of the sub-registrars while offering people the opportunity to smoothly register their property documents.
