We will not tolerate Centre’s negligence any more: Naveen

Jharsuguda/Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday sharpened his attack on the Centre, accusing it of perpetually neglecting the state and said this will not be “tolerated” anymore.

“We will not tolerate Centre’s negligence towards Odisha and its development any more,” Naveen said at a public meeting in Jharsuguda’s Amalipalli ground where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed a BJP rally last September.

The meeting was organized to welcome local leader Naba Das — who resigned from Congress on January 16 — along with eight other Congress leaders, into BJD. “Naba babu is a good organizer. I welcome him and his associates into the party. This will further BJD in Jharsuguda district,” Naveen said.

The BJD chief also addressed a rally of Biju Yuva Vahini in Balangir where Modi had attended a BJP meet and launched a slew of projects on January 15. Naveen’s move to follow Modi’s trail and address public meetings where the BJP held rallies forms part of the ruling BJD’s drive to woo the people of western region ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections, a BJD leader said. The BJD has been using ‘central neglect’ as a major poll plank since 2004 to target successive governments at the Centre.
