The state government and Vismay Shah have filed their replies in the Gujarat High Court with regard to Shah’s bail plea.
Earlier, while taking up the plea, the state government had pointed out Shah’s criminal antecedents to the bench. The court had asked his counsel to file a reply on the status of Shah’s appeal against his conviction in the hit-and-run case. It also asked the petitioner to clarify on his criminal antecedents and past conduct and directed the government to file a reply on the issue. Meawhile, Shah’s temporary bail was extended up to January 29.
The state, in its reply filed on Tuesday, said there are two cases registered against Shah – one being a hit and run, and the other, driving under influence of alcohol.
Shah’s counsel submitted details of all bails granted to him as well as the appeals made. The HC had earlier granted bail to Shah’s wife and four others who were arrested with him in an inebriated state from a party at Adalaj on December 26. Although Shah was not granted bail, his temporary bail was extended.
