Updated on January 24, 2019

SEBI on Thursday said it has not received any reference on relaxation in open offer rules regarding Jet Airways. SEBI has issued a statement after a newspaper reported that relaxations have been sought by Gulf carrier Etihad for infusing additional funds into crisis-hit Jet Airways, which is listed on the exchanges. It was also reported that top bank officials met SEBI in this regard.

“It is hereby clarified that SEBI has neither received any reference in this regard from any quarter nor has it expressed any views in the matter,” the statement said. Shares of Jet Airways closed up 0.26 per cent at ₹266.10 on the BSE on Thursday.

Under financial stress, Jet Airways is looking to raise fresh funds, including from strategic partner Etihad, which currently holds 24 per cent stake in the airlines.
