RAJKOT: The harassment of Gujarat’s pride by humans is nothing new. One more video showing a pride of lionesses being chased by some people sitting in a car has surfaced on social media.

The forest department has launched an investigation.

The video that has gone viral on social media shows that there are nearly five lionesses being harassed on the road that is grilled on both sides, and on the other side of the grill, there is a service road.

The people who are making sarcastic comments are heard in the video. One of the lionesses is seen jumping the grill to go onto the service road to protect itself from the perpetrators.

The lionesses are looking scared.

When contacted, conservator of forest, Rajkot, A C Patel said, “Primarily, we believe that this video is taken somewhere inside the Pipavav port. I have sent one team for the spot visit and to identify the perpetrators.”

A video that went viral on Wednesday shows two persons, one of them with a hen in his hand, teasing a lioness standing just a few feet away from him in a farm. These persons are partying in the farm while a village woman is cooking for them.


According to lion activists, the harassment of lions is rampant in Junagadh and Amreli districts of Gujarat - this has also increased the man-animal conflict in the protected area.


Three persons chase lion pride on a bike, probe launched

A video of three persons harassing a pride of lions by chasing them on a bike went viral on social media on Tuesday. According to forest department sources, the video was shot in some village of Amreli district’s Lilya taluka in a revenue (non-protected) area.
