Bhubaneswar: Aggrieved over alleged police inaction against BJD's Begunia MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev in a recent case against him, hundreds of locals ransacked Begunia Police Station in Khurda district, about 45km from here on Wednesday, and reportedly roughed up some cops. Though nobody was injured in the attack, police have arrested six persons for the violence.

Begunia police had registered a case against Jagadev on January 4 after receiving a complaint from Naba Kishore Swain, a former sarapanch, who had alleged that the legislator showered abuses on him and misbehaved with him after he refused to follow his instructions on some local issues. "I had drawn the attention of the Khurda SP and requested him to take action against the MLA. But the police shielded the legislator as he belonged to the ruling party," Swain said.
