Participating in a debate held as part of the Global Investors Meet here, Nasimuddin said the state was planning to generate 8,884 MW solar power by 2022.
“Cheap loans and other facilities will be provided to people to set up solar rooftop in their residences. This will be part of the solar policy,” he added.
Additional secretary to the ministry of new and renewable energy Praveen Kumar said Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have the potential for installing offshore wind powers tapping the wind power. “In Tamil Nadu, Tirunelveli district has opted to have offshore wind power farms. We are also exploring the possibility of installing such facilities in Dhanushkodi,” he added.
