Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar on Wednesday sought to distance the ruling AIADMK’s stand from the views of the propaganda secretary and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker, M. Thambi Durai, on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He told reporters that Mr. Thambi Durai’s criticism of the BJP did not represent the position of the AIADMK and “it is his own.”
He also said the call by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and president of Republican Party of India (A) Ramdas Athawale for the AIADMK and the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) to come together and join the National Democratic Alliance before the Lok Sabha polls was the Minister’s view and not the position of the BJP.
