Science literature awards announced

A new Malayalam translation of Sigmund Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams and a study that looks into thrilling mysteries of the GodParticle are among the works that won the Science Literature Awards-2017 announced on Wednesday by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE).

Pradeep Kannancode won the award in the Science Book (Children’s Literature) category for his work Ammummathaadi (published by Logos Books). Pradeep is a native of Kannancode, Kollam. K. Babu Joseph’s book Padartham Muthal Daivakanam Vare (DC Books) won the award in he Science Book (In-Depth Science) category. The author is a former Vice Chancellor of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).

Rogangalaal Thalarunna Kuttanadan Gramangal, an article by Cherukara Sunny Lukose, published in Keralasabdam won the Science Journalism award. Mr. Sunny Lukose hails from Kodimatha, Kottayam.

Translation

P.P.K. Poduval won the award in the Malayalam Translation category for his interpretation of Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams, published by Mathrubhumi Books.

The KSCSTE gives the awards to writers who have made commendable contributions to science literature in Malayalam. The awards carry a purse of ₹50,000 each, a plaque and certificate.
