LUCKNOW: The medical students and doctors had some lessons in surgical strikes on Wednesday.

Lt General (retd) Deependra Singh Hooda, who was at the helm of Army’s ‘surgical strike’ on Pakistan in September 2016, delivered a talk at King George’s Medical University on Wednesday.

Lt Gen Hooda said those who criticise the Army sitting in their homes should remember they are safe only because of the soldiers. He said the country needs new age weaponry which should be kept out of politics and added that the Indian Army counters Pakistan’s moves by 10 times more aggression.

“Our soldiers do physical patrolling on all borders of the country, irrespective of odd conditions. The Army protects civilians like Sankat Mochan,” Lt Gen Hooda added. The talk organised by Youth in Action and Youth in Medicos was held on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose.

Another programme on Netaji Bose was held at the university by Netaji Subhash Sansthan. Speaking on the occasion, member of Parliament Kaushal Kishore said had the country got freedom under Bose in 1947, India would have been ahead of China today in terms of development.
