Welcoming the decision of Congress president Rahul Gandhi to appoint Priyanka Vadra as party’s general secretary in-charge of the eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy said the appointment will certainly boost the prospects of the Congress party in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to reporters after distributing sweets to party workers following the AICC announcement on Priyanka’s appointment, the Chief Minister said she has the charisma and likeness of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The decision would change the fortunes of Congress party in Uttar Pradesh and it would have an overall impact on the party’s performance.

Congress workers have been longing to see the active entry of Ms. Vadra into politics, he said adding that Congress president had taken a right decision at the right time. Minister for Public Works and chief of Pradesh Congress Committee A. Namassivayam termed the decision as a game changer before the parliamentary elections.
