To launch more laptops, tablets in India

Hong Kong-based smart devices maker Nexstgo on Thursday said it will invest around $10 million this year on selling and marketing its products in India.

The company is also looking at double-digit market share over the next three years in the Indian laptop market with its ‘fashionable’ and youth-oriented line-up, Alex Chung, Chief Executive Officer, Nexstgo, told BusinessLine on the sidelines of the company’s product launch event here.

“We plan to invest $6 million-$10 million this year in India on manpower, marketing…we have just nine people right now in India. But once we register our company here, we will hire more,” Chung said.

Also, the company is launching products for corporates, and small and medium enterprises, so a lot of partnerships will be forged in the coming days which will require investment, he said. Going forward, the company will launch a series of products including Internet of things (IoT) devices and detachable laptops, which can be used as tablets too.

However, the company does not have plans to start manufacturing in India immediately, and such a decision will be taken only when it garners a substantial market share, Chung said.

On Thursday, Nexstgo launched 14 products under the Avita brand priced between ₹25,000 and ₹67,500. These products are powered by Intel processors and are based on Windows operating system. The Indian personal computer (PC) market is mostly dominated by three companies — Hewlett Packard (31 per cent), Dell (23 per cent) and Lenovo (21 per cent).
